Like websites, Ezine articles need some basic promotion to rank higher in the search engines.

If you can get an Ezine article to rank high on Google for a high traffic phrase you can make some serious coin off just one article. There are many Clickbank marketers who have single articles that earn them thousands of dollars per year.

Google measures the popularity of an article by the number of backlinks and reads the article is getting. If it discerns the article is popular Google will rank the article higher.

(Note: Some of this may be old hat to more seasoned Clickbank Marketers, so please excuse me if this is elementary, but there are a lot of new people to Clickbank and I want to share everything I can.)

A great source of free backlinks to your article is discussion forums. You can put a link to your article in your signature file or, even better, you can link to your article in a post. Now, of course, don’t join a forum and first thing post a link to your article. You’ll be marked a spammer and shunned.

You need to first build a rapport with your fellow posters. Join in the conversation, offer quality advice, ask questions, get to know people and be sincere about it.

After a week or two, start a topic and post your article. Or maybe there’s already a relevant topic where your article topic would be an appropriate fit.

Example:

Let’s say you’re promoting The Magic of Making Up. Join several relationship forums where people are trying to find advice on repairing their broken relationships. You could write an article titled something like: 5 Tips to Get Your Ex Back. Start a forum topic and say something like: “Hey, I wrote an advice article about getting your ex back. If you have time, check it out and let me know what you think. I think you’ll find it helpful.” Your post can be that simple.

Make sure you subtly use a high traffic key phrase in your forum title as forum threads tend to rank high on Google. Again, don’t be blatant, but do try to use a relevant title because this will lead to getting a lot of free search engine traffic to your article and boost your article popularity.

Backlinks from forums will do wonders getting your article ranked higher and put you heads and tails above the other articles out there that have done no promotion.
